My magazine represents a unfamiliar stereotype, which overall makes my magazine hard to understand but also makes it hard to make viewers understand my content. Therefore, my magazine industry has a niche audience. I chose my audience to be niche because not a lot of people will understand it because it doesn't have typical conventions.
Therefore my magazine will be independently published. Having a magazine independently publish, you achieve all control in what you want to add to your content. Having this control, my magazine will specifically concentrate on style and music. This makes my magazine mainstream.
Although mainstream magazines have their limitations. On a campaign for mainstream magazine, it quoted that 'Sales across the sector were down by 5.2 per cent'.
A benefit of having independent publishing is that it initially costs less.
My distribution will be mostly online. The internet is one of the biggest mass media which contains millions of user, although the magazine will start on a low. However, with a subscription strategy, people will pay monthly to access my magazine, therefore receiving money. Having my magazine online reduces the numbers of publishing, therefore a high reduction in costs. Having more money, I will still refuse to have high industries publish my magazine, because of changing it's content.
I only have one specific location I want my magazine to be held. It will mainly be in stores such as WH Smith. Having a low publishing strategy, I must have some marketing awareness, therefore I'm choosing WH Smith. Without a good location, my magazine marketing would go downhill due to marketing awareness. Having WH Smith as my location would become a market ambush, mainly because of WH Smith's popularity.
Other stores I would like to have my magazines been held are stores which relate to my content intertexually. My magazine produces a special fashion that encourages the music I'm putting in my magazine. These stores will be for example American Apparel. Having magazines in clothing stores are unconventional, although, to spread my stereotype, it will be easier to have the magazines held in stores which relate to the magazine.
The distribution for the magazine cannot be exceedingly wide, because this effects my editorial Independence. This means that having wide publishes suggest changes. This is a limitation because, the publishes will make changes which will dramatically effect the magazines content. The location of this magazine will be placed online and in stores. This will make most audience awareness.
Synergy
Music television and Music award ceremonies, conventionally are sponsored by music magazines. But I believe that big publishes are involved with this, and therefore try their best to receive a bigger audience. Although having the magazine independently published, these opportunities will not come across. Music television for example Kerrang have a large audience, having my magazine advertised will highly increase the audience awareness. Although my genre doesn't have a specific outline, therefore finding a interextual music channel would be difficult.
